Maisie

Maisie’s Story:

Maisie became apart of Homeward Hound after she was seized by the dog warden for neglect. Maisie was living in a crate in the garden with no shelter from the elements. Due to this, she hadn’t seen much of the world and was unsure of most things. 

About Maisie:

Maisie loves cuddles and belly rubs from people she knows and trusts. She knew a few basic commands when she first arrived and has now been engaging in some training sessions and is doing well. Malinois are known for having high energy levels and needing to be exercised both physically and mentally. If this breed’s needs are not met, they can develop some unwanted behaviours, therefore we usually recommend enrichment or training classes as well as just walking. 

The Home Maisie Needs: 

Maisie needs an active and hands on home with preferably experience with Belgian Shepherds and is capable of understanding the breed’s characteristics. With Maisie, we recommend attending obedience or focus training classes to brush up on her skills and continue her existing training. Maisie could live with a neutered male (she isn’t spayed yet), however, we would definitely advise against a home with cats. After assessing Maisie, we believe she could live with older children (teenage+) who are ‘dog savvy’ and know how to behave around a dog in the home.
